Two Week Online Capacity Building Course on Gender & Feminism

As a feminist network, Sangat has been working for over three decades on strengthening feminist consciousness and solidarity through capacity building, campaigns and networking. Our annual feminist capacity building courses are among the longest running in the world. With the current global situation, for the first time, we are bringing a two-week course on gender and feminism online. The course is designed for students/activists/working professionals across genders with a keen interest in social justice. It will provide a basic understanding of feminist concepts along with opportunities to link with feminist campaigns.
The course will include sessions on understanding gender and patriarchy as well as masculinity, heteronormativity and other concepts. The course will also build an understanding of feminism, feminist movements and link gender to other structures in society. The resource persons will include Kamla Bhasin, Manisha Gupte, Vibhuti Patel with the Sangat team and others. Class size will be around 50-60 students. Certificates will be provided (soft copies only).
- Minimum educational qualification of 10+2
- Proven commitment to social movements/causes and interest in furthering feminism, human rights, peace and development.
- Basic English comprehension as sessions will be in English
- Access to internet
Sessions will be held from September 14 to September 25 for five days a week (Monday-Friday) from 4PM. The sessions will be 2 hours long with an added 30-40 mins of reading/ group activity and 15 mins self-assessment/ rapid free writing exercise. Attendance in all sessions is expected.
Sessions will take place on Zoom.
